Felicity '12 Talent Showcase

As is the case with most 3rd year students, I was too damn busy during Felicity '11 to participate and enjoy. And as is the case with most final year students, my final Felicity turned out to be the most enjoyable and memorable one.

For someone who may not be aware - Felicity is the annual techo-cult fest of IIIT-H. It's a full 3-day fest that brings something for everyone on the table.

The 1st event that I tried my hands on was Rappelling. Although I had done Rappelling before once, but coming down from the hostel roof of your own College is something straight out of Action Flicks ;-) And that's exactly what we did! Two of my good friends - Mohit and Majid were part of the organizing team. They did a marvellous job :-)
After that, we participated in facade and like always I was the guinea pig for H Zade and Anusha M to experiment on. Well on this 3rd try, the experiment was indeed fruitful and we bagged the 2nd prize.

Facade - Face Painting event.

Those were three eventful days - participating in a lot of events and winning so many of them. One such event worth mention is spin the yarn in which our team of 'Awesome Roomies' (me and Mohak) was the winner.

Coming to the thing I wrote this post for - the Talent Showcase. It's a multi-round personality contest of Felicity with a tradition of the final one (Stage Round) being held on the last night.
It was not the 1st time I participated in it. I had tried my hands on this thing earlier in my 1st year. At that time it was known as MnM - Mr. and Miss Felicity. Participating again in MnM was not exactly pre-decided. But when I was approached for filling out the participation form, I thought - Why not?

Inspired by Mr. Bean's Picnic. Original performance (by Rowan Atkinson) : link
I prepared for this act in four hours flat. More time was spent in preparing the soundtrack than practicing.

I felt deep happiness through being able to entertain so many people at once. Many times I feel it is important to be able to think and act like a child. Because a child knows how to be happy and make others happy better than the grown ups. Thus I wish deep from my heart :

May the child within me never die.

Two to Tango 2009

"Some people have been thought brave because they were afraid to run away."
~ Thomas Fuller

The responsibility of being a cult-representative was already too much to bear for me. With just 1-2 days left for the upcoming Two2Tango and a previous year's winning title to defend, our performance was not even finalized as of yet. Things were getting too much complex for me and I had seriously considered to not participate that year. But Thomas Fuller's above quote describes my state of mind aptly.
Ultimately, our performance did happen - and so did our winning :-)

Presenting you with yet another winning performance. But as u know it takes 2 to Tango ...
Me and Shantanu in a bone tickling mime act at our College Two-2-Tango competition

One thing is quite evident - I couldn't have found a better partner than Shantanu to set the stage ablaze!
I do confess that both of us were quite skeptical about our act. But two things always help you in such situations - paying attention to minute details and going with the flow.
Although we were declared the winners that year, But the performers who won our hearts were "Prahal and Supriya". Their Tumhe jo maine dekha dance was choreographed by Zade (H). The entire performance was executed riding on a pair of roller skates and the couple was a treat to watch.

Talking about treat, we did have a post-winning celebration and a pizza treat after the show was over. :-)

Two to Tango 2008

When your college farewell starts getting close, It's natural to suddenly remember all ya Good Ol' Days ...  and you start feeling nostalgic.
I am no exception to this phenomenon. So one day, I suddenly decide to compile my most memorable performances executed during my graduation years.

What better order to follow than the chronological order itself? So lemme begin from the very beginning :-)

Most people would love it !

This puppet dance was prepared and executed by me and R D (Roopak). The complete practice was completed in less than two days. Of course we had seniors of the likes of Piyush Arora and Ashray to help us. 1st year, 1st semester, It was such a Fun time. Now that I think about it, those were the days!

IIIT-Hyderabad Felicity

IIIT, Hyderabad – a place with absolute geeky demographics. The students here are smart and so is the faculty. The sheer energy level of us IIITians may well hold the key to the next leap in human evolution. But as the saying goes – “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” IIITians are anything but dull. One of the single most prominent reasons in us not being dull is Our Felicity.

This video was prepared as a promo for Felicity-2k10 by us – me and Shashank (lambai). Although this video is quite old, but the spirit of Felicity is not. With each passing year, our felicity keeps getting bigger and better. Every time with a new theme and new talent to showcase. And so I pray, may remain the scene for decades to come. Amen!
So come, let’s celebrate together.
